Zoneplayer ZP80 Streamer
Zoneplayer ZP80 Streamer
$63 Was $79
The Sonos ZonePlayer ZP80 is a component of the Sonos Digital Music System, designed to extend your home audio setup without the integrated amplifier found in some of its siblings.
Pricing available on application which will includes installation and shipping costs to your nominated location
Design and Build:
The ZP80 is noted for its compact size, measuring about 5.3 inches by 5.4 inches by 2.9 inches (136mm x 139mm x 74mm) and weighing 1.5 lbs (0.7kg). It features a light-gray “PC Grade” plastic finish, making it easy to place in various settings.
Connectivity: The ZP80 offers both digital and analog connectivity options:
-
Analog Line In: Via RCA connectors, auto-detecting.
-
Analog Line Out: Variable or fixed level through RCA connectors.
-
Digital S/PDIF Out: Includes both RCA coaxial and optical TosLink outputs. This allows for connection to existing home audio systems, whether they are stereo setups or home theater.
Audio Formats: It supports a variety of audio formats including MP3, WMA, AAC (MPEG4), Ogg Vorbis, Audible, Apple Lossless, FLAC lossless, WAV, and AIFF. However, it does not support DRM-protected files.
Sound Quality: While it doesn’t have its own amplifier, users can connect it to their existing audio equipment to achieve high sound quality. The device itself has a THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) of less than 0.009% from 20Hz to 20kHz, indicating good audio fidelity.
The ZP80, although discontinued, remains functional within the Sonos ecosystem, particularly for those looking to expand or retrofit their audio systems without needing additional amplification. If you’re considering integrating this into a modern setup, compatibility with newer Sonos products might be somewhat limited, but it can still serve well in environments where its specific features are beneficial.
