Our History

Experience through the years.

1978

The original Len Wallis Audio store opens in Lane Cove.

1979

We hire our first employee – Jim (who a year later left, unannounced, never to be heard from again!)

1983

Having outgrown the initial store we moved across the road into larger premises featuring four dedicated sound-lounges and on-site service department.

1985

Started Living Media. This was a dedicated Custom Installation division which was later rolled into the general fabric of Len Wallis Audio. Living Media was a pioneer in the now burgeoning custom installation industry.

1990

High Fidelity magazine in the UK listed Len Wallis Audio as one of the five best audio stores in the world.

1995

Having one again outgrown our premises we moved – again across the road – to our current store. This was the most sophisticated audio store of its time in Australia, featuring eight listening rooms, plus a large open showroom space.

1998

Our current general manager, Tim Wallis (and son of Len and Sue) joins the company as store-man working in the warehouse.

2001

Len Wallis Audio became the first company outside of the United States to be named the CEDIA (Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association) ‘Dealer of the Year’. Len was given a Lifetime Achievement award by CEDIA Australia the same year.

2005

Len Wallis Audio named the ‘Best International Integrator’ by Crestron USA – the first company outside of the USA to receive this award.

2007

Len receives the inaugural Sound and Image ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award.

2017

Len inducted as a ‘Fellow’ of CEDIA International (the first Australian to do so) at an awards ceremony held on the deck of the USS Midway, San Diego.
