Special Edition range of enhanced DSP Loudspeakers, the DSP5200SE is under a metre high, but delivers exceptional performance. Here is where the Meridian DSP Loudspeaker philosophy really comes into its own, delivering simply stunning bass and full-range performance from a relatively small cabinet.

Over 30 years of engineering development, coupled with extensive research in Psychoacoustics into how we perceive sound, have informed every aspect of the Special Edition series. These findings dictated improvements that have led to the loudspeaker?s lifelike performance.

Finished as standard in a piano lacquer black or white, the Special Edition Range is also available in any of the 270 Meridian Select colours.

Key Features
> Outstanding performance. Three powerful wide range 75W amplifiers deliver a maximum output level of 116Db at 1m.
> Light weight, dual voice coil, Beryllium tweeter for refined high frequency performance (up to 32kHz).
> Clamp rings ensure that the bass and midrange drivers are isolated from the cabinet, giving the most controlled and detailed sound possible.
> New extended-bandwidth analogue electronics, optimised to deliver maximum performance from high-resolution recordings.

Technologies
With its extensive Research and Development programme Meridian has pioneered the development of a host of innovative audio technologies many of which feature in today?s Meridian products.

Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
You may have noticed that many Meridian Audio products feature the letters ‘DSP’ within their name. These three letters stand for ‘Digital Signal Processing’; a technology that Meridian adopted over 25 years ago and have been perfecting ever since. In short, DSP enables The DSP7200 SE to achieve an extremely accurate reproduction of audio signals. This is one of the reasons why when you listen to a Meridian system, it feels as though the artist is right there in the room with you. One of the most exciting capabilities of DSP is the level of control and adaptability it offers. Here are just a few of the many revolutionary Meridian product features that would be simply impossible to reproduce in the conventional analogue domain…

Master Quality Authenticated [MQA] is a revolutionary end-to-end technology that delivers master quality audio in a file that?s small enough to stream or download. What?s more, it?s backwards compatible, so will play on any device. And because it?s fully authenticated, you can be sure you?re hearing exactly what the artist approved in the studio.

Enhanced Bass Alignment [EBA] enables accurate time-alignment of the high, mid and bass frequencies reproduced by our loudspeakers. This process ensures that all of the sounds reach your ear at the same time, providing exceptional imaging and a clear, transparent, life-like sound.

The effect of sound arriving before the picture is highly noticeable when watching your favourite movies and television shows. Many Meridian products feature Lip-Sync to perfectly realign the audio with the video so that you can become completely absorbed.

Meridian High Resolution [MHR] allows the secure movement of high resolution digital audio within a Meridian system, without degradation or loss in quality. Even with high-quality conventional analogue circuitry, unwanted noise and degradation to sound quality are inevitable.By digitally processing audio signals instead, they are able to retain absolute precision, resulting in a sound that is natural, three-dimensional and remarkably easy to listen to.

Meridium. Loudspeaker enclosures often vibrate, colouring the sound, making it less lifelike. Our most advanced loudspeakers use a cabinet construction material unique to Meridian: Meridium features highest-grade laminated plywood layers bonded to an aluminium core, allowing the loudspeaker to reproduce music accurately without adding its own sound.

Speakerlink. Traditional audio systems often require large, expensive cables to maintain their performance. Meridian’s SpeakerLink uses an ?Ethernet style? cable that delivers pristine digital sound and control down a single cable between Meridian components. The result is simple, unobtrusive, and cost-effective cables that are easy to install.

Fifo Buffing. Each sample of a digital recording must remain evenly spaced in time. Unfortunately, timing can vary, especially when reading discs. This is ?jitter?, degrading music’s sense of space and diminishing realism. Meridian’s multiple ?First In, First Out? buffering system minimises jitter, ensuring perfect timing and improved clarity. You enjoy a clearer feeling of the instruments and their interrelationship.
