Over its long history of manufacturing acoustic instruments, the brand has produced a broad array of original technologies, guided by the expertise passed on from generation to generation, keen sensitivity about sound creation. Yamaha has developed ground-breaking electronics technology.
Len Wallis Audio’s long history with Yamaha Australia
Yamaha was initially imported into Australia by independent company Rose Music, concentrating on their vast musical instrument catalogue. In the early ’70s, Rose Music introduced Yamahas first audio systems to the country, consisting of a combined turntable/cassette deck/radio/amplifier unit with a pair of Yamaha’s unique ‘Ear Speakers’. On release, the sole retail outlet for this product was MS Sound, a small Hi-Fi store in St. Peters, where co-incidentally Len worked as a salesman. This was the start of a very long and rewarding association.
When the idea of opening his own store was broached in 1978, the first company Len approached was Yamaha. He was aware that if the venture were to be a success, it would be with the support of an established industry leader. At the time the brand represented quality performance and value for money, reliability and importantly, excellent product support all qualities that are still hallmarks of the brand today. This has proven to be a fortuitous decision, as Len Wallis Audio has proudly carried Yamaha since the day we opened our doors.
