Technics Grand Class SL-1200GR2EBS Direct Drive Turntable: Precision Redefined

For decades, Technics has set the benchmark for turntable innovation, and the SL-1210GR2EBK continues this legacy with groundbreaking features that redefine vinyl playback. This direct drive turntable is the first of a new generation, built to elevate sound reproduction to unprecedented levels. Featuring the newly developed ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) motor system, the SL-1200GR2EBS offers smoother rotation and exceptional precision, ensuring every record delivers rich, immersive sound.

Revolutionary Motor Technology

At the heart of the SL-1210GR2EBK is the ΔΣ-Drive motor system, a testament to Technics’ expertise in PWM signal processing. By minimizing high-frequency harmonics and suppressing motor vibrations, this system achieves smoother, more stable platter rotation. The result is unmatched sound accuracy, allowing listeners to experience every detail in their vinyl collection.

The turntable features a coreless direct drive motor, a hallmark of Technics engineering. This design eliminates “cogging,” the rotational irregularity common in older direct drive systems, ensuring consistent performance. Drawing inspiration from the iconic SL-1200G, the SL-1200GR2EBS incorporates a single-rotor, surface-facing motor for precision rotation, setting a new standard in direct drive turntables.

Silent Power and Noise Cancellation

Technics has equipped the SL-1210GR2EBK with a multi-stage silent power supply, featuring a high-speed switching circuit that minimizes noise interference. Unlike traditional power supplies, this system eliminates the need for bulky transformers and mechanical vibration countermeasures, resulting in a cleaner audio signal.

The inclusion of Current Injection Active Noise Cancelling technology further enhances playback fidelity. By detecting and counteracting residual power supply noise, this advanced system ensures a stable and pristine audio experience.

Advanced Platter and Tonearm Design

The SL-1210GR2EBK boasts a meticulously designed platter that achieves exceptional rigidity and vibration damping. Constructed with a two-layer design and featuring deadening rubber across its rear surface, the platter eliminates unnecessary resonance that can distort sound. With an increased inertial mass and optimized aluminium die-cast construction, it offers superior stability and damping characteristics, outperforming previous models.

The S-shaped tonearm is a marvel of engineering, offering high initial-motion sensitivity for precise tracking. Hand-assembled by skilled Japanese artisans, the tonearm features high-precision gimbal bearings and a lightweight aluminium pipe for superior rigidity. It accurately traces every groove in your records, preserving the nuances of the music. The turntable also includes an auxiliary weight, enabling compatibility with a wide range of cartridges to suit various musical genres and preferences.

Rigid, High-Quality Construction

The SL-1210GR2EBK features a two-layer cabinet construction, combining BMC and aluminium die-cast materials for maximum rigidity. This robust design minimizes external vibrations, ensuring the turntable’s components function at peak performance. The elegant chassis reflects Technics’ dedication to both aesthetics and functionality, making it a centerpiece for any audiophile’s setup.
